Free hearing tests for pensioners and eligible veterans

The Australian Government’s Hearing Services Program (HSP) is designed to provide essential hearing care services to pensioners and eligible veterans across the country.

Free hearing tests are a key component of the HSP, offering eligible participants a comprehensive assessment of their hearing capabilities. These tests are conducted by accredited hearing service providers who deliver professional and personalised care to identify and manage hearing issues.

Eligibility for the HSP includes Australian citizens and permanent residents who hold a Pensioner Concession Card, a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Gold Card, or a DVA White Card specifying hearing loss. Additionally, the program caters to recipients of certain Centrelink benefits and allowances.

Participants in the HSP can access a range of services, including free hearing assessments, fitting of appropriate hearing devices, and follow-up support for device maintenance and adjustments. By addressing the hearing needs of pensioners and eligible veterans, the Hearing Services Program contributes to a better quality of life for these individuals and supports their continued engagement in their communities.
